Recent developments in infection, in particular with the Omikron variant, have led to the introduction of a number of restrictions which have led to significant constraints and economic challenges for business.

Naalakkersuisut, with the approval of inatsisartut’s Finance and Tax Committee, has therefore introduced two new aid packages aimed at the companies directly affected by the restrictions.

Support can be sought to cover overheads as well as cover for lost earnings, and compensation for binding costs can be applied for in connection with cancelled events.
Responsible crisis loans may also be applied for to alleviate acute liquidity problems.

The “winter package”

The winter package is aimed at companies that are subject to restrictions on the sale and serving of alcoholic beverages. This applies to serving places, bars, nightclubs, etc. throughout Greenland, which were required to be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 p.m., as well as to companies in the municipalities where the sale and serving of alcoholic beverages has been prohibited.

For eligible enterprises in prohibited municipalities, aid may be applied for for the following periods for the following periods:

  • Qeqqata Kommunia:11 January to 1 February.
  • Municipality of Sermersooq and Municipality of Kujalleq: 26 January to 9 February.
  • Municipality Qeqertalik: 27 January to 9 February.

Under the Winter Package, support can be applied for to cover fixed costs and responsible crisis loans can be sought to alleviate acute liquidity problems.

The packages can be combined, however, the same cost can only be covered once.
