Greenland’s Fisheries Licence Control will in the coming weeks organise a control campaign focusing on licensing and action in coastal fisheries.

The campaign, which takes place mainly in Ilulissat, Sisimiut and Nuuk, will reveal whether fishermen remember to bring their licence when fishing and trading. The campaign will also identify whether purchasers remember to check that the fisherman is licensed for the fishing in question.

It is stated in PA Decree No 7 of 4 April 2016 on reports of actions of fish and fishery products that, under Section 3, the fisherman must provide a range of information, inter alia, regarding his licence, catch, catch area and the name and cpr.nr of the fisherman, and that, under Paragraph 7, the purchaser must also provide a number of information concerning the fisherman’s licence, catch and catch area, name and cpr.nr.
