Press release from Blåse Energi

Hammerfest Energi and Varanger Kraft join the offshore wind consortium, Blåse Energi. As new partners, they will bring valuable expertise in the energy market and complement the existing consortium members.

Blåse Energi is currently working on the application for the Utsira Nord area, the first full-scale floating wind farm in Norwegian waters. The two new partners will strengthen the consortium, and Blåse will be the first consortium to apply for Norwegian offshore wind with a solid presence in Northern Norway.

”Together, we are ready to explore floating offshore wind along the Norwegian coast in the long term, as the authorities have initiated a process to open new areas for future development,” says John E. Stangeland, CEO of NorSea on behalf of the Blåse partners.

Blåse is a consortium initially formed by established players in the offshore industry: NorSea, Parkwind, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The consortium aims to take a leading position in Norwegian offshore wind development.

The vision is a thriving wind industry where nature, people, and technology come together to build a sustainable future around renewable energy, creating jobs for the Norwegian offshore industry and a brighter future for future generations.

Hammerfest Energi and Varanger Kraft will specifically contribute expertise in grid and network planning, as well as engage in dialogue with Norwegian authorities.

”Offshore wind is a new area for us, and we look forward to contributing our experience and increasing our own knowledge about offshore wind. We also recognize the importance of good dialogue with local communities and other stakeholders,” says Gudrun Rollefsen, CEO of Hammerfest Energi.

By bringing Hammerfest Energi and Varanger Kraft on board as partners in Blåse, the consortium will have deeper roots in Norwegian coastal communities and ensure that the development of offshore wind energy brings benefits to local societies.

”We hope offshore wind can inspire new businesses and job opportunities along the entire coast,” says Terje Skansen, CEO of Varanger Kraft.
