It’s time for the High North Young Entreprenur competition again, and we invite start-ups, projects and companies to apply for the award.

We have the pleasure of inviting young people with business ideas and start-ups to apply for the High North Young Entrepreneur contest 2023 in Bodø, Norway.  Individuals and companies from any Arctic country are welcome to apply. to invite students with business ideas, start-ups, projects and companies started less than five years ago, to apply for the  in Bodø, Norway. Companies and individual entrepreneurs from any Arctic country are welcome to apply.

Business ideas for the Arctic growth​​

The High North Young Entrepreneur contest is an international pitch competition of Arctic-related business ideas of young entrepreneurs and start-ups. The overall goal of the contest is to bring attention to the economic potential and special needs of the High North areas and to encourage young people to develop their business ideas.​

The contest final is a part of the program of the annual High North Dialogue conference in Bodø. At the final session, three young entrepreneurs have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to the several hundred conference participants on site, as well as to all the online participants, and to win financial funding for their business.​

​Who can  apply?

Students with business ideas, companies, and individual entrepreneurs from any country and sphere are eligible to apply; however, start-up owners or/and business ideas have somehow to be related to the circumpolar North.​​​

We invite all entrepreneurs and start-ups from the Northern areas to participate, regardless of their project specifics. It may be an individual start-up or a company registered and operating in, for example, Bodø, Tromsø, Oulu, Anchorage. However, if you are located in more central areas and cities ( for example, Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki) but have a business idea connected to the Arctic, you are eligible to apply.
As the contest focuses on start-ups and new business ideas, the company must not be older than five years of the start-up date—the age of the applicant – up to 40 years old.
We especially encourage projects from Bioeconomy, Clean Energy, Health and welfare, Ocean, Smart society, Creative industries, tourism, and the Green shift areas.
You do not need to be an organization to apply. We also accept applications from individuals, who have business ideas.
The nomination form will soon be available and the nomination period closes March 26, 2023.

What is next?

The international committee consisting of experts from the areas of business and innovations will decide on three projects that will be invited to Bodø to present their ideas at the High North Dialogue conference on April 19, 2023.
Three criteria will be considered:
  1. ​Relevance to the North
  2. Quality of the project application and business plan elements
  3. The uniqueness/originality of the project idea.
Travel costs in connection to travel to Bodø will be covered for the selected finalists.
During the final session in Bodø, three entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas to compete for the first place. The High North Dialogue conference participants will vote for the best project in real-time, and the winner will be announced during at the conference dinner the same day. The prize to the winner idea is a check for 50 000 Norwegian crones. All finalists get diplomas for participation.​
