Cabot, a Canadian developer and operator of golf courses and luxury resorts, has agreed to invest in one of the few golf courses located entirely above the Arctic Circle, golf.com reports.
- Cabot announced the “strategic investment” in Lofoten Links this week, without disclosing details. The company aims to offer world-class golf in remarkable destinations around the globe.
- As the name implies, Lofoten Links is a seaside golf course, located in the Norwegian island village of Gimsøysand. In 1998, a local farmer and golf enthusiast built a six-hole course on his family’s land and expanded it to 18 holes in 2015.
- Cabot considered acquiring Lofoten Links in early 2020, but paused due to the pandemic. It is currently ranked the world’s No. 88 golf course.
- Lofoten Links’ appeal includes activities like hiking and kayaking, with the golf season running from May to October, offering 24-hour daylight during summer months and views of the Northern Lights in autumn.
