Barents Observer Editor Thomas Nilsen and Founder Atle Staalesen, along with reporter Olesia Krivtsova, who joined remotely from exile, shared their firsthand experiences reporting on nearby Russia from Norway.

Arctic Today would like to thank everyone who attended last week’s event in Washington, D.C., co-hosted with the National Press Club’s Press Freedom Center. The gathering brought together journalists, experts and advocates for a powerful discussion on the growing challenges to free reporting in and around the Arctic.

The event was well attended and featured firsthand insights from reporters at the Barents Observer, highlighting the importance of independent journalism in the High North and beyond.

We’re grateful for the engagement, questions and support from all who joined us in person and online. You can now watch the full recording and view photos from the event below.
