The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and Skanska Financial Services AB have signed a six-year loan for USD 50 million (EUR 47 million). The loan finances the construction of Skanska’s new headquarter building in Kungsholmen, Stockholm, Sweden. Skanska aims for their new headquarters to reach a zero CO2 certification.

Construction of the new headquarters, named “Olivin,” began in early 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The building is planned and designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the highest level of LEED green building certification, and to align with EU taxonomy requirements for green buildings. The loan is eligible to be financed with the NIB Environmental Bond (NEB) proceeds.

The building will have a total office space of 23,000 square meters, of which Skanska will use up 13,000 square meters for their own operations.

“Skanska is NIB’s longstanding client and partner with whom we can create sustainable change in the construction industry,” says André Küüsvek, NIB President & CEO. Küüsvek continues: „Developing new and sustainable projects, like their new headquarters, aligns well with NIB’s mission.”

Skanska AB is a world-leading construction and project development group focused on commercial properties, residential properties, and infrastructure projects in the Nordics, Europe, and North America.

NIB is an international financial institution owned by eight member countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden.
