🇮🇸 🇩🇪 Landsvirkjun and Linde join forces to develop clean hydrogen and e-fuel projects
Press release from Landsvirkjun
A challenging task for experienced companies
The production of e-fuels is technically complex and a novel field for Landsvirkjun. Therefore, it has joined forces with Linde, which has extensive knowledge of the chemical industry, hydrogen production via electrolysis, as well as the operation of green industrial parks.
The experience of the two companies spans decades, Landsvirkjun in the field of renewable, green energy and Linde in industrial gases. Linde is a leading industrial gases and engineering company that serves customers in more than 100 countries worldwide.
Linde already supplies Icelandic customers with locally produced oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and operates a cylinder filling site.
Rikardur Rikardsson, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Innovation at Landsvirkjun:
“We welcome this collaboration with Linde, which enables us to continue the development of projects with the aim of producing e-fuels for transport and other novel energy transition off-takers by the year 2025.
The development of e-fuel projects is a challenging task that requires knowledge, experience and perseverance. Both companies possess these attributes and can ensure that all technical, planning, environmental and safety matters will be well implemented.”
Daniel Mateos, Head of Business Development, Linde, Region Europe North:
“We are looking forward to working with Landsvirkjun to help Iceland achieve its ambitious decarbonization goals.
Linde and Landsvirkjun are aiming to play a key role in the clean energy transition in Iceland. The complementary strengths and expertise of both companies across the full value chain, from renewable energies to clean fuels, will enable the safe and reliable supply of clean hydrogen and e-fuels.”
