Espoo and Montréal, November 3, 2025 – The Finnish quantum algorithm and software company QMill and Montréal-based École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) have agreed on the terms of their strategic research collaboration to conduct deep-tech research as well as to test, and benchmark algorithms relevant to real-world challenges together — helping to narrow the gap between theoretical quantum computing and practical impact.

This partnership builds on ÉTS’s expanding expertise in quantum algorithms and the academic depth to explore new frontiers underpinning computational performance whereas QMill brings deep industrial experience in algorithm design and validation.

Through its newly created Institute in Quantum Science and Engineering, ÉTS offers an environment where scientific excellence meets the engineering mindset. The collaboration will enable shared projects, researcher exchanges, and direct channels for technology and knowledge transfer.

    The partnership was initially announced during the July 2025 launch of the new institute ÉTS is building to focus on quantum science and engineering. The terms were finalized during the recent visit of QMill’s leadership to Montréal, marking a new chapter in quantum-algorithm research collaboration between Finland and Québec. The collaboration underscores how Finland’s established quantum-computing community and Québec’s quantum ecosystem can work together to build a global innovation corridor.
