Weekend Video: Stories of Subsistence

“Subsistence isn’t just about food. It’s about who we are.”

In our Weekend Video this week Stories of Subsistence, residents of Prince William Sound speak about what it means to live from the land and sea: to hunt, fish, gather and share in ways that sustain community and identity. Produced by the Chugach Regional Resources Commission in collaboration with the Alaska Humanities Forum, the short film captures both continuity and change in Alaska’s coastal life, from deep tradition to the enduring recovery after the Exxon Valdez spill.

This is a powerful reflection on belonging, care and survival in the Arctic where every tide and season still matters.
