Travel from the United States to Sweden has risen by 58% compared to 2019 levels, according to Visit Sweden, with Stockholm accounting for more than half of all U.S. guest nights. U.S. visitors now represent one of Sweden’s fastest-growing international segments.

“Interest has exceeded expectations,” the organization noted, pointing to the rapid uptake of recent promotional efforts and growing curiosity about Sweden’s landscapes and lifestyle.

Visit Sweden attributed the growth to a combination of factors, including increased awareness of the country’s nature-focused experiences, cultural offerings and improved accessibility. Campaigns aimed at differentiating Sweden from other European destinations have also helped attract attention in the U.S. market.

Beyond Stockholm and other major regions, destinations such as Dalarna and Arctic northern Sweden are seeing rising interest, driven by demand for nature-based experiences and access to open landscapes, as well as seasonal contrasts such as the midnight sun in summer and Northern Lights in the darker months.
