🇺🇸 Polar Libraries Colloquy to take place in June 2026

Welcome to the 30th Polar Libraries Colloquy, June 7-13, 2026, hosted at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center on the Columbus Campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio, USA. This biannual event alternates between North America and Europe.

The Colloquy provides an international forum through which librarians and others concerned with the collection, preservation, and dissemination of information dealing with the Arctic and Antarctic regions, discuss issues of mutual interest and promote initiatives leading to improved collections and services.

 

The 2026 theme will be Polar Regions: Past, Present, and Future.

Minor themes will also be explored:

  • Indigenous communities of Arctic North America
  • Earth’s poles in works of arts, humanities, and media
  • Polar archives and library information matters
  • Polar research data management and open access publishing
  • One Health: People, Animal, and Environmental Health in Polar Regions
  • Public engagement with polar libraries and archives
  • Navigating mis and dis-information
  • Polar politics and history
  • Role of AI
