Icelanders divided over their support of whaling
About a third of the population supported whaling, while another third opposed it. The rest expressed no opinion.

A new survey conducted by MMR shows that approximately the same number of people are for and against whaling. Thirty-four percent were against whaling, 34 percent were in favor of whaling and 31 percent were neither for or against.
More women than men were against whaling and younger rather than older people were against whaling. People in rural areas were slightly more in favor of whaling than in the capital area.
