Proteins.1 Raises €4.7M in Pre-Seed Funding to Pioneer Omics with the “PCR for Proteins”
April 16, 2026
We’re excited to introduce Proteins.1, backed by Lifeline Ventures and Cloudberry with €4.7M in pre-seed funding, to pioneer omics.
For decades, diagnostics has had a hard ceiling. While PCR revolutionized DNA analysis, there has never been a “PCR for proteins.” Proteins cannot be copied. No biological or chemical trick takes one protein molecule and makes two, even though proteins are often the earliest indicators of disease onset, relapse, and treatment response.
We are changing this by building the “PCR for proteins” using magnets instead of enzymes.
Our platform uses magnets and semiconductor photonics to perform single-molecule capture and cyclic signal amplification for proteins and nucleic acids alike. Proteins.1 is built on research developed at VTT and independently replicated through EU breakthrough (EIC Pathfinder) funded projects, with granted patents in the EU and US.
The long-term vision is simple: diseases caught at the molecular stage, not when symptomatic.
We are backed by Lifeline Ventures and Cloudberry VC, alongside support from VTT and Business Finland. Huge thanks to Veera Pietikäinen, René Kromhof, Jyri Engeström, and Timo Ahopelto for being our first believers.
If you are a researcher limited by detection sensitivity, a pharma partner looking for a unified multiomics platform, or a deep-tech engineer who has shipped a regulated omics platform and wants to do it again, reach out.
