Direct flights from Reykjavik to Tromsø, combined with year-round service to Bergen, expand connectivity and create greater opportunities for international tourists to visit Norway.

February 11, 2026 Icelandair is launching new direct service to Tromsø, Norway this winter. Flights will be twice weekly between Keflavík International Airport and Tromsø starting October 23, 2026, through to March 29, 2027. At the same time, flights to Bergen, Norway will be extended into the winter season, making this second largest Norwegian city a year-round destination.

Operating on the Boeing 737MAX8, the Tromsø route significantly enhances seasonal connectivity between Iceland and Norway. The service complements Icelandair’s broader network expansion, offering travellers access to Norwegian culture, historic cities and stunning landscapes.

For U.S. travellers, the route offers an opportunity for convenient access to Norway, without the need for connecting flights through larger European hubs. Afternoon departures from Tromsø allow for smooth onward same day connections to the U.S.

Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair:

“This new service offers multiple benefits. It makes travel easier for people with personal or family ties between Iceland and Northern Norway, while offering very convenient connections between North America and Norway. Our hub’s strategic location positions us well to efficiently serve the Nordic market, and we’re excited about opening up this new route to Northern Norway.”

Icelandair customers traveling between North America and Europe can enhance their journey with a Stopover in Iceland for up to 7 days. For more information and booking details, visit www.icelandair.com.
