🇫🇮 NASA selects Kuva US for commercial satellite data acquisition contract

FAIRFAX, Virginia (July 1, 2026) — Kuva US, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Kuva Space, has been selected as one of eight new awardees under NASA’s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) On-Ramp 2 multiple-award contract. The selection makes Kuva eligible to provide commercial satellite data through future NASA task orders for use by researchers, civil agencies, and public-sector decision-makers.

Kuva Space’s addition to the CSDA program builds on its existing role within Europe’s Copernicus ecosystem, where it was the only hyperspectral provider selected among the program’s 2023 European Emerging Copernicus Contributing Missions. Together, the two selections position Kuva Space as one of the few hyperspectral Earth observation companies participating in major public-sector programs on both sides of the Atlantic.

It creates a pathway for richer and more frequent insights to reach the scientists and decision-makers responding to critical environmental and societal challenges.”

NASA’s CSDA program identifies, evaluates, and acquires commercial satellite data that support NASA’s Earth science research and application goals, complementing observations from its own fleet of Earth-observing satellites. Commercial data can increase the pace of discovery by offering higher spatial resolution, more frequent, taskable observations, and other complementary measurements supporting research and applications—including environmental monitoring, disaster response, and public safety.

The CSDA On-Ramp 2 contract is a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple-award contract with an original maximum contract value of $476 million. The contract runs through November 15, 2028. NASA announced the latest awardees on June 18, 2026.

Kuva Space’s satellites capture data across numerous narrow spectral bands, revealing material properties and environmental conditions that conventional satellite imagery may not detect.

NASA is committed to strengthening its public-private partnerships through the CSDA program, expanding scientific insight while reducing costs and accelerating the delivery of data to researchers and decision-makers.

Kuva Space is building Hyperfield, a planned hyperspectral microsatellite constellation targeting continuous intra-daily global revisit by 2030. Combined with AI-driven analytics, the system is designed to turn spectral measurements into actionable intelligence for applications spanning agriculture and food security, climate and environmental monitoring, energy, and defense.
