🇨🇦 ACI announces Arctic Shipping Summit 2026, returning November 18-19 in Montreal

Montreal, Canada – May 25, 2026 – ACI is pleased to announce the return of the Arctic Shipping Summit 2026, taking place 18–19 November 2026 in Montreal, Canada.

Under the theme “Delivering Arctic Shipping in Practice: Policy, Ports & Vessel”, the summit will examine the operational, commercial, and regulatory realities shaping Arctic shipping activity today. As interest in Arctic trade routes, northern infrastructure, and resource projects grows, discussion is shifting away from high-level narratives toward a more practical question: what enables safe, reliable, and commercially viable Arctic operations in practice.

The conference will bring together shipowners, operators, ports, coast guards, regulators, insurers, technology providers, infrastructure developers, and Arctic specialists to explore how policy, vessel capability, infrastructure, data, and decision-making influence outcomes on the water.

Programme focus

Key discussions will include:

  • Future business opportunities across transit, destination, and project cargo markets
  • Infrastructure that enables operations, including ports, fuel, and logistics networks
  • Vessel and icebreaking capacity gaps and delivery constraints
  • Regulation vs. reality: translating compliance into operational consequences
  • Industry–community collaboration: integrating Indigenous knowledge and priorities
  • Decision-making at sea: thresholds, accountability, and operational judgement
  • Technology that delivers: practical tools for ice and navigation support
  • Risk, responsibility, and commercial exposure: how Arctic risk is priced and allocated

Confirmed speakers/panellists include:

  • Matt Jeneroux, Member of Parliament and Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Economic and Security Partnerships, Government of Canada
  • Senior Representative, Fednav
  • Erik Almkvist, Head of Ice Operations, Viking Supply Ships
  • Keld Qvistgaard, Head of Ice Services, Danish Meteorological Institute
  • Additional senior contributors across operators, risk, data, and Arctic operations
